These ES straight-stem level switches use closed-cell NBR floats for compatible liquids with a density of at least 0.65g/cm³. The NBR float has a reference density of 0.6g/cm³. The metal stem and body are available in 304 or 316 stainless steel, with a 1in threaded mounting connection.
A Hirschmann-style plug allows the cable connection to be removed for servicing. Single-float assemblies provide one level signal, while double-float assemblies support high and low level monitoring. Typical applications include compatible oil, lubricant and alcohol tanks and industrial liquid-handling systems.

Observe contact power, voltage and current limits together. Select the enclosure, cable and temperature configuration for the installation. The float signal operates a receiving relay or controller; pump power requires a suitably rated contactor or motor starter.
Dimensions are in mm. The common values below apply to every reference in the single-float drawing. The reference names retain the spaces used in that size drawing.

For a double-float assembly, specify the overall stem length and both sensing elevations. Custom options include float count, spacing, thread dimensions, cable length and connector type. Select the exact 1in thread standard to match the tank connection.
| Connector position | Two-terminal switching configuration |
|---|---|
| 1 | Level-switch signal |
| 2 | Level-switch signal |
| 3 | Unassigned |
| Earth-marked position | Unassigned in this connection arrangement |
Use the circuit assignment supplied with a double-float assembly for its two level signals. The external relay terminal numbers in the relay-control attachment do not identify the pins inside the float connector.
| Float orientation | Rising level | Falling level |
|---|---|---|
| Below-closed, standard | Contact opens as the float leaves the sensing position | Contact closes as the float returns |
| Above-closed | Contact closes as the float returns to the sensing position | Contact opens as the float leaves |
Reverse the float to change its closed-state orientation, then check contact continuity before connecting the receiving circuit.
| 14-pin relay connection | Function in the 220VAC example |
|---|---|
| 10–13 jumper | Live supply and coil terminal 13 |
| 11 | Neutral and float common return |
| 12–14 jumper | Auxiliary-contact common and coil terminal 14 |
| 14 | Start-signal lead |
| 8 | Permit / stop-signal lead |
| 6 and 7 | Switched load connections |
Filling uses the lower level to start and upper level to stop. Drainage uses the upper level to start and lower level to stop. A relay auxiliary contact maintains operation between levels. This example requires a 220VAC-rated float option and the matching relay coil and contact arrangement; select the output relay or contactor for the actual load.
Check the liquid density and compatibility with NBR, the chosen stainless steel and all sealing materials. Avoid heavy sludge, viscous deposits and solid particles that could prevent float travel. Install vertically with free movement, keep external magnetic fields away and protect the assembly from impact. Test the switching sequence after installation, inspect operation regularly and disconnect power before maintenance.
