ESB Stainless Steel Magnetic Floats for Level Switches

Description

Magnetic float components for level sensing

The ESB family contains an internal magnet that actuates a compatible reed switch as the float moves with the liquid level. Cylindrical and spherical versions suit guided float assemblies, while duckbill forms provide a compact moving float for compatible side-mounted sensors.

These are replacement or integration components for a complete level-sensing assembly. Select the stainless steel grade, magnetic characteristics and dimensions for the liquid and sensor. 304 and 316 stainless steel options are available.

Shape and model selection

FormModelsFloat-body densityInstallation
DuckbillESB001, ESB002; ESB-17×55 product designation0.88–0.9g/cm³Compatible horizontal side-mounted sensor
CylindricalESB003–ESB0280.4–0.77g/cm³Compatible guide and reed-sensor assembly
SphericalESB029–ESB0560.3–0.81g/cm³Compatible guide and reed-sensor assembly

The recommended liquid density is at least 0.9g/cm³. Confirm sufficient buoyancy for the selected float, especially where its nominal density is close to the liquid density. Suitable media include water, oil and other liquids compatible with the selected stainless steel.

Cylindrical float dimensions

Dimensions and tolerances below are in millimeters. OD is outside diameter, L is overall float length and ID is the central opening. Models sharing a row have the same listed dimensions.

Confirm the final component drawing and magnet arrangement before ordering. In particular, confirm the 180mm length listed for ESB036 and any opening or tolerance shown as unspecified.

Side-mounted float integration

Conceptual arrangement of a side-mounted float in a tank
A side-mounted float must move freely and remain aligned with its matching sensor. This illustration shows the installation principle.

Match ESB001 or ESB002 to the intended sensor and mounting geometry. For all shapes, verify clearance, buoyancy, magnetic actuation and material compatibility. Keep the float free of deposits that could restrict motion, and check its response after installation or replacement.
