ES switches combine a stainless steel float assembly with a removable Hirschmann-style industrial connector. The connector’s locking screw secures the electrical connection and allows the sensor to be replaced without removing the complete cable run. Single-float and double-float versions suit level indication, high or low alarms and control signals for external pump-control equipment.
The standard float and stem are 304 stainless steel, with 316 stainless steel available for compatible applications requiring that material. Welded construction and a threaded mounting simplify installation in water-treatment equipment, industrial reservoirs and machinery. Keep the floats clear of heavy sludge and large debris.

Observe contact power, current and voltage simultaneously. Confirm the ordered construction for operation below −20°C or for an IP68 requirement. Use a receiving relay for alarm or valve control and a relay plus a correctly sized contactor for pump control.
| Connector position | Connection |
|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | Level-switch signal terminals for the two-terminal switching arrangement |
| 3 | No assigned function |
| Earth-marked position | No assigned function in this switching arrangement |
For a double-float assembly, obtain its complete circuit and terminal assignment before wiring the upper and lower sensing points. The standard below-closed action opens as the float rises away from its sensing position and closes as it falls back. Reversing the float changes the closed-state orientation. Verify each contact by continuity testing before commissioning.

Dimensions are in mm and use the drawing symbols. The mounting thread is designated 1in; select the thread standard and pitch for the tank connection.

Custom stem lengths, switching elevations, cables and threads are available by arrangement.
A two-level receiving circuit starts filling at the lower level and stops at the upper level. For drainage, it starts at the upper level and stops at the lower level. The relay’s auxiliary contact maintains operation between the two levels. Select float contact states and the receiving circuit for the intended sequence.
| 14-pin relay connection | Function in the 220VAC example |
|---|---|
| 10 and 13, jumpered | Live supply and coil terminal |
| 11 | Neutral supply and float common return |
| 12 and 14, jumpered | Auxiliary contact common and coil terminal |
| 14 | Start-signal lead |
| 8 | Permit / stop-signal lead through auxiliary NO contact 12–8 |
| 6 and 7 | Switched load connections |
This example requires a 220VAC-rated float option and the matching relay coil and terminal arrangement. Choose the relay or contactor for the actual load rating. The relay terminals above are separate from the float assembly’s connector-pin assignments. See the English relay-control attachment for the circuit and operating states.
Match the switch to the medium, temperature, pressure and receiving circuit. Provide free vertical float travel, keep external magnetic fields away and inspect the connector seal and locking screw during maintenance. Disconnect power before servicing and test both low and high operating positions after installation.
