EPC Side-Mounted Polypropylene Float Level Switches

Description

Horizontal level sensing through the tank wall

The EPC series uses a magnetic float and a reed switch to provide an on/off signal when liquid reaches the sensing position. EPC1 and EPC2 use compact standard float arrangements; EPC3–EPC8 use hinged duckbill floats with several mounting forms.

The polypropylene body and float suit water and compatible clean or mildly corrosive liquids. Side mounting supports level indication, alarms and control inputs in compact tanks, appliance reservoirs, water-treatment equipment and industrial liquid systems.

EPC2G1/4Compact cylindrical float

EPC8M12×1.25Duckbill
EPC1 offset float switch dimensions in millimeters
EPC1 uses an M12×1.25 mounting thread; the drawing shows its offset float and required clearance.
EPC2 cylindrical float switch dimensions in millimeters
EPC2 uses a G1/4 connection and a 30mm float-envelope reference.

Contact options and operating conditions

Parameter1A1 option2A1 option
Maximum contact power10W30W
Maximum switching voltage100VDC220VDC
Maximum resistive switching current0.5A1.5A
Breakdown-voltage reference220VDC300VDC
Contact resistance≤100mΩ≤100mΩ
Operating temperature−10–85°C−10–85°C

The liquid-density reference is 650kg/m³. Confirm buoyancy and free movement in the actual medium. Select the supplied contact configuration before finalizing the circuit, and observe power, voltage and current limits simultaneously.

Contact power10VA30VA
Switching voltage110VDC220VDC
Resistive switching current0.2A0.2A
Breakdown voltage200VDC300VDC
Temperature range−10–85°C−10–85°C

Use the rating assigned to the delivered contact version. Breakdown voltage is a dielectric characteristic and must not be used as the switching-voltage limit. A load beyond the reed-contact capacity requires an external relay or contactor.

Reed contacts for magnetic float switching
The float’s magnetic field actuates a sealed reed contact.
Magnetic polypropylene float component
The float moves with the liquid to provide magnetic actuation.

Installation and configuration

Duckbill float shown in its open hinged position
Allow enough clearance for the duckbill float to move through its full operating arc.

Confirm the mounting opening, thread standard, tank-wall thickness, switching position, cable length and electrical load before ordering. Install the sensor horizontally through the tank wall and orient the float for the required normally open or normally closed operation. Check the actual contact state after installation.

Keep the float clear of nearby walls, pipes and deposits. Use liquids compatible with polypropylene, protect the cable and keep terminations dry. The attached manual includes dimensions for all eight models; confirm the exact mounting form and final drawing for the supplied version.
