EFQS-HM180 High-Temperature Mercury Float Switches

Description

Level indication in high-temperature liquids

The EFQS-HM180 uses a sealed mercury switch inside a welded stainless steel float. As liquid level changes, the float tilts and the mercury moves to make or break the signal contacts. Its approximately ±10° operating angle supports sensitive level indication in heated tanks and compatible process-liquid systems.

The EFQS-HM180-A10 configuration operates at a maximum of 20VAC/DC and 0.5A. Use it for sensing and indication with a compatible receiving circuit. Select the stainless steel grade for the actual liquid, concentration and temperature.

Signal contacts and switching behavior

ConductorFunction
Black or yellow-greenSwitching common; verify identification on the supplied assembly
BlueLower-level signal; closes to common when the float tilts downward to −10°
BrownUpper-level signal; closes to common when the float tilts upward to +10°

Between −10° and +10°, the switch retains its previous state. Isolate power before wiring and confirm conductor functions. A switching common must not be mistaken for protective earth. Insulate unused wires and keep cable joints dry.

Installation and service

Pass the cable through the counterweight, adjust the position for the desired level indication and tighten its fixing screw after checking both switching points. Leave room for free float movement and prevent the cable from rubbing against sharp edges. Confirm the permissible pressure of the supplied assembly for the installation.

Inspect the housing, cable and weld regularly. Stop using the instrument if its housing is deformed, the weld leaks or insulation is damaged. The contact element contains metallic mercury; handle the product under hazardous-waste procedures at end of life and do not discard it with ordinary waste.
