| Explanation: |
Platform UV - Vertical integrated I/O module |
Protocol PN - PROFINET |
I/O Configuration D16C16 - 16 digital inputs accepting NPN or PNP signals and 16 digital outputs; fixed configuration in this series |
Output Polarity P - PNP outputs |
Each UV vertical integrated module combines 16 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs and a network interface in a 24mm-wide DIN rail housing. Inputs accept NPN or PNP signals; the final P or N in the model identifies the output polarity. Select the required protocol and output type together. Each listed model is a separate protocol variant.

Interface capacity is separate from the physical channel count. The PROFINET models use separate two-byte input and two-byte output images, detailed below.

|---|---|---|---|
| PNP sourcing, models ending in P | 16 | 24VDC, ±25% | Nominal 0VDC; ±3% tolerance with unspecified reference quantity |
| NPN sinking, models ending in N | Nominal 0VDC; ±3% tolerance with unspecified reference quantity | 24VDC, ±25% |
The low-state ±3% notation does not establish an absolute residual-voltage limit because its reference quantity is unspecified. PNP outputs supply loads connected to the 0VDC return; NPN outputs switch loads connected to the positive field supply.

Install vertically in a ventilated enclosure or cabinet, away from equipment that could cause overheating. Disconnect power before fitting or removing the module. Engage the upper rail latch and seat the module on the DIN rail. For removal, disconnect power and signal cables, release the latch with a flat screwdriver and reverse the mounting movement. Check for obstructions if the module resists fitting.
