PL420 PLCC Sockets

Description

PLCC socket construction

PL420 sockets have 1.27mm package-contact pitch and are available in through-hole and SMT constructions. The 20, 28, 44, 52, 68 and 84-contact bodies are square; the 32-contact version has a rectangular outline. Match the package contact count and the PCB termination before selecting the profile.

ConstructionContact countsHeight and terminal detailsPCB connection
Through-hole20, 28, 32, 44, 52, 68, 848.15mm body height; 3.20mm projecting leadsØ0.80mm holes on the illustrated 2.54mm grid
SMT20, 28, 32, 44, 52, 68, 84Profile H: 3.81mm, 4.3mm or 4.6mmModel-specific surface-mount pad pattern

The 1.27mm mating-contact pitch is distinct from the through-hole PCB grid. SMT profiles do not apply to the taller through-hole housing.

PL420 SMT ordering fields distinguish material code S, mounting code S and profile code S.

Through-hole square-body dimensions

These A/B/C/D/E references belong to the upper through-hole drawing. A is the end-contact span along a side, B is overall body width, C is the lead-row span, D is the diagonal dimension and E is the inner reference width. Values are in millimetres.

PCB layout and orientation

The combined drawing retains the through-hole square pattern, the 32-contact rectangular pattern and the SMT pad pattern. Through-hole holes are Ø0.80mm with a 2.54mm grid; the SMT pattern uses the 1.27mm contact pitch. Recommended layout tolerance is ±0.05mm. Use the correct construction's reference dimensions and orientation marks.
