JKX Intelligent Filtered Power Capacitors

Description

Integrated capacitor and harmonic filtering

JKX intelligent filtered capacitor assemblies combine low-voltage power capacitors, switching, monitoring and a magnetic filtering arrangement for reactive power compensation in systems containing harmonics. The application range specifies harmonic-current content below 40%, including installations with inverter loads. Filtering is intended to restrict switching surge and harmonic components including the 3rd, 5th, 7th and 9th.

The modular system supports simultaneous three-phase or individual-phase compensation. It monitors voltage, current, reactive power, power factor, CT phase sequence and ratio, individual capacitor phase currents and internal temperature. Calibration and self-diagnosis are included. Capacitor status, compensation state, voltage alarms and protection events can be indicated or communicated.

Control, protection and networking

The controller tracks reactive power and selects capacitor groups according to their available output. Equal-output groups operate in rotation; different outputs are selected to match demand. The first connected group is released first and the group with the longest off-time is connected first. Cooler units receive connection priority and hotter operating units are released first. Under a constant operating condition, the rotation interval is 15 minutes.

Protection functions cover circuit overcurrent, capacitor overvoltage, undervoltage, overtemperature, phase loss and three-phase imbalance. A capacitor temperature above 65°C causes the assembly to leave service. The control unit also disconnects an assembly when self-diagnosis detects a fault.

RS485 links the capacitor units, controller and external monitoring equipment for data exchange. Wired and wireless networking configurations are described for the wider system. Specify the communication arrangement and compensation method for the required installation.
