JKFK Hybrid Capacitor Switches

Description

Hybrid switching for capacitor compensation

JKFK hybrid switches combine a thyristor path with magnetically latched relay contacts. The thyristor initiates connection at a voltage zero crossing, the relay carries the steady current, and disconnection is completed at a current zero crossing. The range supports simultaneous three-phase compensation and separate phase compensation in low-voltage capacitor banks.

The switch monitors its semiconductor path, relay and supply condition. Phase-loss and self-detected faults inhibit closing or disconnect the switch, and loss of operating power trips the device. The control input is optically isolated.

Compensation connections

The split-phase circuit uses a neutral conductor and separate phase control inputs. The simultaneous circuit switches a delta-connected capacitor bank. N denotes the transformer neutral and V the control common. K1 serves as the common three-phase trigger in simultaneous compensation, or the L1 phase trigger in split-phase compensation. K2 and K3 are the L2 and L3 split-phase triggers; the illustrated trigger inputs are active at low potential.

Mounting pattern

The illustrated front outline is 96mm wide and 160mm high, with an 80×145mm fixing pattern and two Ø5mm mounting holes. Check the enclosure depth and terminal clearance for the selected current and connection variant.
