DBU Braking Unit

Description

Overview

The DBU braking unit diverts regenerative energy from an inverter DC bus into an external braking resistor, where the energy is converted to heat during motor deceleration.

Selection and operation

  • Choose the unit by DC chopper voltage, rated and maximum braking current, motor power and matched resistor requirement.
  • Models cover the captured 380V and 630/660/690/730V chopper settings, with a special design stated up to 1200V.
  • IGBT short-circuit and breakdown tripping protects the braking circuit.
  • Up to three units may be connected in parallel where the application requires additional capacity.
