Description

M12 cable-gland limit switches

CZ-8N vertical limit switches combine a metal housing and reinforced plastic cover with a bottom M12 cable gland. Snap-action 1NO+1NC contacts serve machine position detection, with sixteen actuator configurations covering fixed and adjustable levers, plungers, roller plungers and flexible spring heads. Select the actuator by approach direction, available travel and operating force.

NO terminals are 13-14; NC terminals are 11-12. The specified direct-opening function applies only to the NC contact of the six lever models identified below.

Join the fixed series code CZ-8, the complete actuator code and the N cable-entry suffix. For example, CZ-8104N selects a plastic roller lever with an M12 cable gland; CZ-8111MN selects the metal-head plunger with the same gland. Keep 111M, 112M, 122M and 108H as complete head codes.

Apply each endurance figure to its stated load. The thermal-current rating does not replace the voltage-, contact- and load-specific switching ratings.

Switching ratings

Current values below are in amperes. Dashes identify unspecified ratings.

The table gives steady currents. Inductive loads use an AC power factor of 0.4 or a DC time constant below 7ms. Lamp-load inrush is up to ten times steady current; motor-load inrush is up to six times steady current.

Force and travel by model

OF and RF denote maximum operating force and minimum release force. PT and MD are maximum pretravel and differential travel unless a tolerance is shown. OT and TT are minimum overtravel and total travel. OP is measured from the datum in the individual drawing. A dash means unspecified.

Apply horizontal movement within the outer third of spring or whisker length, measured from the tip. Avoid root loading, excessive deflection and impact. Rebound can cause additional contact operations.

The six lever models allow 360° lever positioning and four head orientations at 90° intervals. Retighten screws evenly after adjustment and prevent foreign matter from entering the housing. For CZ-8112N and CZ-8122N roller plungers, keep the cam angle below 30° and follow the attached cam/groove drawing, including its 2.8mm offset. Full model outlines and mounting datums are provided in the catalog attachment.

Wiring and cable requirements

Remove the cover, feed the cable through the gland and secure suitable terminals to the switch. Refit the gland correctly in its dedicated cover groove. Tighten the three cover screws evenly to 0.49-0.59N·m.

Keep silicone oil away from the cable/contact system. Secure the cable 50mm from the switch base and maintain a bend radius of at least 45mm to avoid pulling on the gland or damaging the insulation.

Loads below 24VDC/10mA require a specifically configured low-load contact version. Do not transfer contacts already used on general loads to low-load duty. Use suitable suppression and contact-protection circuits for contact bounce and impulse currents.

These switches are intended for general industrial use. Personnel-protection duties, nuclear or utility infrastructure, outdoor or chemically aggressive environments, strong electromagnetic disturbance, fire or explosion hazards, military equipment and aerospace require a separately specified design and written application approval.
