| Explanation: |
Series CM-1 - Standard horizontal limit switch family |
Actuator 701 - Long lever |
Housing N - PA66 engineering plastic housing |
CM-1N horizontal limit switches combine a PA66 engineering plastic housing with snap-action 1NO+1NC contacts. Twenty-one actuator configurations include lever, roller, wire, leaf-spring and plunger mechanisms. Select the head for the target approach and available movement, then check its force, pretravel, overtravel and operating-position tolerances.
CM-1703MN combines the fixed series identifier CM-1, actuator code 703M and housing suffix N. Here N specifies PA66. M remains part of the complete metal-roller actuator code; X remains part of code 308X. Every model below uses snap-action 1NO+1NC contacts with common COM, normally closed NC and normally open NO functions.

Endurance values apply to their stated loads. Confirm service life under the actual speed, operating frequency and electrical duty. Standard CM-1N switches are not waterproof sealed devices; provide external protection against splash, dust and cutting chips.
All currents are amperes. Shared cells apply to both NC and NO, while lamp and motor ratings distinguish the contact where shown. NC30A and NO15A inrush limits apply to all eight voltage rows. The 30VDC resistive designation is 6(2)A; confirm the applicability of the parenthetical rating before selecting that duty.

TF denotes total-travel force, RP release position, TTP total-travel position and TT total travel. Set movement beyond the operating point to 70-100% of the specified OT. Avoid exceeding overtravel, abrupt impact or operation outside the specified speed and frequency ranges.
The body drawings show 49.6mm length and 25.4±0.1mm mounting centers. Width and mounting-hole geometry depend on the construction; use the outline for the exact model. Lever radii are R63.5mm for CM-1701N, R28.2mm for CM-1702N, R48.5mm for CM-1703N/1703MN and R26.6mm for CM-1704N/1704MN. Roller levers use Ø9.5×4mm rollers. CM-1713N uses a Ø20×4mm plastic roller, and CM-1705N has a Ø1mm wire lever with R155mm geometry.
Panel plungers use M12×1 threads. CM-1308N and CM-1309N have Ø12.7×3.8mm rollers in vertical and transverse orientations, respectively; CM-1308XN is the small vertical roller type. Plunger diameters are Ø2.3mm for CM-1300N, Ø4mm for CM-1305N and Ø7.3mm for CM-1306N.
| Installation item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Body mounting | M4 screws, flat and spring washers; 1.18-1.47N·m |
| Panel actuator hex nut | 2.94-4.9N·m |
| Plunger panel cutout | Ø12.5mm, +0.2/0 tolerance |
| Roller-plunger panel cutout | Keyed outline, Ø12.5mm with 13mm by 5mm geometry; use the complete drawing |
For side-screw mounting of CM-1307N, CM-1308N and CM-1309N, remove the actuator hex nut and avoid excessive cam angle, speed or shock above 1000m/s². Install away from chip accumulation and provide a guard where accidental operation is possible. Mount in a direction and location that avoid resonance.
Turn power off before installation, wiring, removal or maintenance. Use insulated M3.5 crimp terminals with AWG20-AWG18 or 0.5-0.75mm² conductors. Keep terminal thickness within 0.5mm and fit each terminal flat without interference with the housing or cover. Exclude wire fragments from the mechanism.

| Cable type | Cores | Conductor | Finished outside diameter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plastic/rubber-insulated flexible cable | 2, 3 or 4 | 0.5-0.75mm² | Round, Ø6-9mm |

For solder connections, use an iron no greater than 60W, with heating limited to 5 seconds at 350°C or 3 seconds at 380°C. Avoid prolonged heating and incomplete joints. For signals below 24VDC/10mA or prolonged low-frequency use, specify suitable low-load contacts. Do not reassign contacts from general loads to small signals. Use suitable RC suppression and contact protection against bounce, noise and impulse currents.

Keep oil, water, corrosive gases and volatile silicone materials away from the contacts. Avoid steam, hot water above 60°C, rapid thermal changes and outdoor conditions beyond the stated limits. Personnel protection, high-reliability infrastructure, nuclear, fire or explosion hazards, harsh chemical environments, military and aerospace use require a separately specified design and application approval.
